Peak position:  22

The original version of this was actually DJ Fresh’s first ever UK hit back in 2010.  Since then he has gone on to have two number ones including the Rita Ora featured “Hot Right Now” which this year became the first ever drum ‘n’ bass tune to top the UK charts (He actually pipped Rudimental to this accolade but they have their revenge by appearing higher in my list ;)…You’ll have to wait to find out where!) ………Anyway, Gold Dust got a going over by Shy FX, and Ms Dynamite was added into the mix to make this a proper bit of TUUUUNAGE!!!

FLO RIDA FT SIA – WILD ONES

Peak position:  4

A massive year for Flo Rida with a number 1 hit and three other top 5 singles.  This was the pick of the bunch in my opinion.  A hypnotic beat, generic rap but all topped off with the sublime vocals of Aussie Sia Furler.  I’ve been a fan of her previous work with the band Zero 7 for over a decade and it’s hard to believe she finally had her mainstream breakthrough this year…….She not only also provided the vocals for David Guetta’s number 1 smash “Titanium”, but also co-wrote another 2012 number 1, which will be appearing in the top ten of my list…………….You have a whole 24 hours to wait before I reveal all…….What a tease! 😉

GOTYE FT KIMBRA – SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW

The biggest selling song of 2012 with 1.3 million sold to date and it’s still in the top 100 after 51 weeks!  Half Belgian/half Aussie Wouter “Wally” De Backer sensibly just goes by his stage name of Gotye and teamed up with Kimbra for this unusual collaboration.

The final track ever from the biggest clique in house music and they are going out on a high.  The rave keyboard hook meshes with what I can only describe as one of the campest vocals I’ve ever heard on a dance record! (Check out the second verse in particular @2.06 in the video)….Camp, but also sang to perfection.  A great vocal from John Martin.
